Green Light Tea Garden: A Triumph of Sustainable Design

Ren Huang Fang's Award-Winning Packaging Design Celebrates Environmental Protection

Ren Huang Fang's Green Light Tea Garden packaging design, a winner of the prestigious A' Packaging Design Award in 2021, is a testament to the power of sustainable design. This innovative packaging, made from recycled tea bag paper and tea dregs, not only protects the product but also the environment, reflecting the brand's commitment to environmental protection.

The Green Light Tea Garden is situated in the upper region of the Feicui Reservoir, Pinglin, Taiwan, a region known for its rich biodiversity. The packaging design is inspired by this natural environment, incorporating illustrations of local fauna such as the Collared Owlet, Formosan muntjac, Lophura swinhoii, and the Emerald green tree frog, all integrated into the local environment of clouds, mountains, forests, and water.

What sets this packaging apart is its unique material. The packaging is made from used tea leaf residue and tea bag paper, a testament to the brand's commitment to sustainability. The production process involves the integration of filtered tea residue and handmade paper, with the final product printed with eco-friendly ink. This not only reduces waste but also creates a unique, tactile experience for the consumer.

The technical specifications of the design are meticulously detailed. The gift box measures 246 mm in width, 256 mm in depth, and 100 mm in height, while the bag measures 94 mm in width and 103 mm in height. The paper used is tea residue paper and grain paper, both of which contribute to the packaging's unique texture and aesthetic appeal.

The design was realized through a series of challenges. The production process required substantial time and research, particularly in the development of the unique paper made from tea leaf residue. This involved continuous experimentation with printing techniques, as the material was significantly different from conventional paper. Despite these challenges, the end result is a packaging design that truly embodies the spirit of environmental protection.

The Green Light Tea Garden packaging design is more than just a container for tea; it is a statement of the brand's commitment to environmental protection. Through the use of recycled materials and eco-friendly production processes, it serves as a reminder of the importance of sustainability in design. It is a fitting winner of the Golden A' Design Award, a recognition given to designs that advance art, science, design, and technology, and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics.
